Air Defender
Around 10,000 NATO soldiers with 250 aircraft from 25 countries were involved in the two-week exercise Air Defender in June 2023. The exercise scenario involved an eastern military alliance with the fictional name of Occasus attacking NATO's alliance territory after years of confrontation. The LTG62 based in Wunstorf, Germany, was part and as well a base of the training.

"Americans who come to Wunstorf are often amazed at the strange heraldic animal of the LTG 62. It is the hapless raven Hans Huckebein from the work of Wilhelm Busch. The eyes of the skinny bird are covered with a scarf; the animal flies blind. Pilots used to be trained for instrument flight in Wunstorf."
"This German self-mockery is obviously only accessible to other nations to a limited extent. The LTG 62 has therefore designed a new emblem especially for Air Defender: Hans Huckebein now has muscles like the young Arnold Schwarzenegger and his scarf is tied around a sword."
